I was born and raised in northern Ontario in a small town called Trout Creek.
The farm where I grew up was an amazing place (see my first post, The Eye of the Storm for a picture). Living here was a blessing and an opportunity to commune with nature.
Perhaps that is why, after 12 years of living in Toronto, I found Vancouver, and 9 months later I had moved again. I have never looked back.
Most of my career has been spent working in publishing and advertising as a production coordinator and a proofreader.
My dream?
To have a log cabin built somewhere far from the busy city where I spend my days gardening, hiking, writing and cooking with my husband, who would be a professional masseuse and a gourmet chef. Sigh…
Some of my favourite things
Movies What About Bob?, The Devil Wears Prada and The Fugitive.
Actors Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.
Book Harry Potter series.
Pets Don’t have any at the moment, but would love to share my apartment with a parrot.
Food Now, that’s a hard one – depends on the season – Indian cuisine and stew in winter, and fruit smoothies in the summer; oh, and then there is of course chocolate – good in any season!
Interests Nutrition, camping, photography, dancing, playing cards, word games, sudoko, hiking, yoga.

Hey Davina, thanks for sharing about yourself. It seems that we are on the same path to personal growth, and sharing about our experiences, so that others may connect.
You’ve mentioned that you’ve gone through a number of challenges. Hopefully, your most trying times will be a thing of the past. I sure wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Have an Awesome Life ahead!

Very nice “about” page. Now I understand your comment about your dream home.
Vancouver — I’m envious. We spent a week there in ‘93 with our lodging in Burnaby a few blocks from a Sky Train station. The first 4 days we didn’t have a rental car. Loved it!
However, we probably couldn’t live in a busy place like that after living all of our lives in small places… but somewhere up the coast a ways or out on Vancouver Island would be nice. But that would be too far from out kids and grandkids. I guess we’ll just have to settle for going there for a short (or long) stay again sometime.
Wishing all the best for you!

Hi Mike. I’m guilty of not replying to you sooner. I remember reading your comment a while back and I thought I had already replied. Guess I was distracted. My apologies!
So, thank you for your comment
You stayed in a pretty busy area of Vancouver. There are quieter areas in North Vancouver that you would probably like, specifically Edgemont Village.
You might also like the Sunshine Coast just up the coast from the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. Vancouver Island is nice too but I’ve never been drawn to it personally.

Davina,
I wanted you to know that you are quite an inspiration to me. I have read through some of your posts, and really enjoy your authenticity, and vulnerability. I wish you so much luck in your career.

Hi Danny. Thank you so much! This has come on a day when I needed it. I am making the time to visit all the newcomers to my blog over the next while and so you will see me over at Awakening To Me soon. I just popped over for a second and read “My Daily Commitment” and loved it!

Hey Davina,
Hope you’re well.
I was just reading your about page and I tried clicking your Crimson Compass link. It seems to be missing the “http://” at the start, so it’s not working.
Just a quick heads up.
